Happy September and Back to School

Hi friends and happy September! It feels like early fall today - sunny, low humidity, nice breeze, 74 degrees - perfect! My summer flower pot looked really sad, so I picked up a gorgeous mum and replaced it over the weekend. I also hung my fall wreath on the door. My dear mom gifted this cute wreath to me a few years ago and I love it! Is it feeling like fall where you live? Have you decorated for fall yet? Usually, I don't decorate this early in September, but I felt very ready for this new season.

Also, it's back to homeschooling today and we are super excited and ready for this new school year. It's my daughter's first day of high school! Yes, I said high school. She's in 9th grade this year and I can barely believe it. I'm praying it doesn't go by too fast. I'm so thankful we can homeschool and that it works really well for our family.

I'll be back soon with a few new recipes I want to share with you. I hope you have a wonderful day!

  1. Julia, your daughter is beautiful! High school goes by so quickly. I know you will enjoy each day of teaching this lovely girl.

I like your autumn wreath that your mom gave you. I know when I display a piece of decor that my mom has passed on to me or bought for me, it makes me feel even closer to her.

That mum is so pretty. Glad you are having a good autumn day! xx

  5. I hope it's a great school year. Wreaths are so expensive these days. I looked at several today and just could not let myself pay a high price for one. That cup of chocolate or coffee sure looks good.

  7. Wishing your lovely daughter all the best as she starts a new chapter, it doesn't seem two minutes since they're starting school and all of a sudden they're starting high school! It definitely feels like autumn here, it's come round much too soon for me this year and I'm still trying to cling onto summer a little longer.

  12. Still feels like summer here in eastern NY but i LOVE LOVE LOVE it and yes i started putting away my summer decor and have my late summer items out (sunflowers, mums, and some apple decor because of course NY is known for its apple orchards and it's apple picking time!!). the mornings are cool which i like but all this past week it's been warm enough to get up to the lakes and swim.

Much success to your daughter as she begins high school. Is she part of a homeschool group for socialization? We sent our daughters to our public school (but mainly because we didn't have the money for the private GOOD academic ones around here and also because as a special education Prek teacher I'm a firm believer in shining the light in the public schools....but also we have one of the top rated school districts in the state of NY so.....). but we know several families who chose homeschooling. Some were great at it and others...well..i always felt sorry for the children...they seemed very behind. I'm guessing your daughter is thriving. We prayed about it when our oldest turned 5 and the Lord had us build a home here in this excellent district so we were blessed. But if my girls were teens today there's NO WAY theyd go to public because i've heard some icky things about what is going on in our local school and some agendas that certain teachers are pushing in their classes. I'm thankful i never taught at a public shool (ny special ed preK children have to attend private preschool agencies as public schools only educated special needs children from K-age 21). I loved the agencies where I worked and politics was never in the way of my teaching. PRaise God.
    ENJOY the rest of September
