Lovely May

Hello!  What a lovely May it's been so far.  I celebrated my birthday earlier in the month.  I had a fun day celebrating with a nice lunch out at one of my favorite cafes with Charlotte and my parents, and take-out pizza for dinner with chocolate cake for dessert that I made earlier in the day.  It was a very happy day indeed!  I know 44 is going to be an awesome year!!

I've been doing a bit of gardening here and there.  I planted zinnia and cosmos from seed and they've already started to sprout.  I'm looking forward to lots of lovely blooms this summer.  

Next week is Charlotte's last week of school before summer break.  I'm definitely ready for a more relaxed schedule.  Also, looking forward to spending the first week of June in Charleston.  Happy almost summer!  I'll be back soon!

Our Trip to NYC

We had a wonderful trip to NYC for Charlotte's 10th birthday at the end of March!  I'll let the photos speak for themselves!  I've been meaning to post these, but time hasn't been on my side lately, it seems.  Since today starts one of the busiest months of the year (last month of school) and all the busyness that comes with the end of the school year, I thought I better do a post today.  It's also my birthday month - this Friday to be exact!  Yay!!

This was my daughter's first trip to the city and she loved it as much as I do.  One of the highlights was having High Tea at The Plaza Hotel, and she had a special Eloise birthday tea.  And also going to Tiffany & Co. to select a necklace for her birthday.  We loved walking around Central Park, and China Town, and SoHo, and eating cannolis in Little Italy, and visiting the big American Girl Doll store, and seeing all this lights in Times Square at night.  We did lots of walking and lots of sightseeing.  We didn't get to everything on our list, so we will be back!  We are definitely city mice and cannot wait to visit again!

May

Hello!  It's May - my favorite month and it's also my birthday month!  All the flowers are blooming, Mother's Day is this coming weekend, we are winding up the school year in just a few, short weeks and looking forward to summer! 

I requested the black and white cake from Whole Foods for my birthday and it was as delicious as it looks!  I would highly recommend it.  We spent the day in Asheville on Saturday and enjoyed a yummy lunch for my birthday - it was a really fun day.

I've also been doing a bit of gardening and I bought these beautiful, hanging baskets for our front porch.  I planted a few pots with geraniums, snapdragons, and a few other plants.  I still need to buy some herbs and do a mixed herb garden.

A Ninth Birthday!

We celebrated our sweet girl's ninth birthday this past weekend.  I really cannot believe she is already nine - time please slow down!  We started off with brunch at her favorite French cafe/bakery on Saturday, and it was delicious, as always.  They treated her to a yummy plate of macaroons for dessert!  After brunch, we did some shopping at Paper Source for wrapping paper and ribbon for her gifts.  She chose the all-pink floral print, and I chose the multicolored floral print next to the bottom, but I basically wanted them all!  I really do appreciate nice gift wrap, and so does my daughter.

On Sunday, I made her birthday cake - chocolate cake with cream cheese frosting (her favorite) topped with lots of yummy sprinkles.  It was delicious, and she loved it!  We celebrated at my parents' house for a little family party.  It was fun and she enjoyed it!  She received lots of sweet gifts - new outfits for herself and her American Girl Bitty Baby doll, some games, and a really sweet locket from her aunt and uncle.  And on Monday, her actual birthday, we brought cupcakes to school so she could celebrate with her classmates.  

It was a great weekend, and we were so happy to celebrate our sweet girl turning nine.

Lately

Hello!  I'm still here.  Just super busy with life and my six year old.  We've celebrated Charlotte's sixth birthday and Easter since I last posted.  Here are a few photos from the last several weeks.

I'm waiting for the weather to dry up and warm up so I can start gardening again.  I'm itching to get my hands in the dirt!  Be back soon!

Disney World

We are back from Disney World!  Charlotte had a wonderful time celebrating her fifth birthday.  My husband and I are still recovering from our busy trip, so I will let the photos speak for themselves.
