Meet the newest addition to our family - sweet little Rosie. Rosie is a ten-week old Shih Tzu and is all puppy. It's like having a little one in the house again as we cannot take our eyes off of her. She's into lots of things and likes to nip on you whenever she gets the chance. She's also very sweet and cuddly and we love her. She likes her kennel and we are thankful for that. She sleeps in it at night next to her toy puppy. She is also doing fairly well with potty training. She is a pure joy to have around!

Happy Weekend
I'm glad to say that it's Friday and the weekend is almost here. I hope you have a relaxing, peaceful weekend wherever you are and whatever you are doing. No big plans here, of course, as we are still social distancing from most everyone. I'm sure we will go on a few walks and I'm thinking of making an ice cream pie.
We are super excited to be picking up our new puppy in two weeks! I'll be sure to post pictures, as she is simply darling.
I just love my Susan Branch calendar - Falling in Love with the English Countryside! Especially June - it's all about dogs!

Hello!!
Hello friends! I hope you are all staying safe and healthy. Oh my goodness, it's been so long - almost one year - since my last post. It would take me forever to catch up, so I'm just posting and chatting about the month of May, basically.
What a crazy year we are having so far. I'm hopeful that there are better days ahead for all of us as we slowly resurface and approach a new normal. We've been spending a lot of time at home since mid-March, which feels like forever ago. We go on a few outings (in a mask, of course) and day trips here and there, but mostly home these days. I've been gardening and cooking a lot. We occasionally do takeout, though. Likely tonight, I'm thinking maybe pizza.
So, please tell me... how are you all doing? Are you mostly staying home, as well? Are you cooking a lot? Are you making summer vacation plans? We are hoping to rent a place at the coast sometime this summer, and I cannot wait to put my feet in the sand and walk on the beach. It would be so good for my soul these days.
It feels really nice to be back in this space again! I hope to post more often. Now that homeschool is behind us, I think I'll have some extra time to do so. I don't normally homeschool our daughter, but of course, with the current situation, we've been doing so since March. We finished up fourth grade last Friday. Hooray for summer!!

Summer
Hello! Hope you are staying cool wherever you are. Here on the east coast we are experiencing a major heat wave this weekend. I have a stack of books to read and ice cream in the freezer, so I'm ready for it!
We took a day trip north to a quaint, little town in the mountains last weekend where it was nice and fairly cool. We spent the entire day outside walking, going to the park, shopping, we stopped for a yummy lunch at our favorite restaurant, and ended the day with ice cream. It was a fun day!
I made a delicious Peach, Brie and Prosciutto flatbread pizza from this cookbook last night and it was the perfect summer dinner. I highly recommend it.
Hope you have a great weekend!

Happy July
Happy Fourth of July, friends! It's very hot here - 90 degrees to be exact. We are celebrating at home today. I made sheet pan chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches - they are currently in the freezer and will be dessert tonight. We are also planning to grill burgers for dinner and watch fireworks on TV a bit later. What are you up to on this Independence Day?

Charleston Getaway
We took a trip to Charleston for a few days the first week of June. It was a much needed getaway after all the busyness from the last month of school. The weather was mostly overcast with a few showers one of the days, but I didn't mind at all, as it kept it from being blazing hot. The south gets really hot and humid in the summer. I love the longer days and beautiful flowers that come with summer, but not so much the heat.
Have you ever visited Charleston, SC? It's such a beautiful, historical city and the coast is only a twenty minute drive from downtown Charleston. I love to walk the cobblestone streets of Charleston and take in all of its beauty. The food is also fabulous - lots of wonderful, local seafood on every corner. It was definitely a nice, little getaway to one of my favorite cities!
