Hi! Happy Tuesday. A cool front came through last night, bringing much lower humidity and temperatures. Yay for some nicer weather! I'm planning to take a walk later today.
Thank you for all the nice and thoughtful comments on my last post. They are very much appreciated!
Recently, we spent a late afternoon/early evening in uptown Charlotte. We visited the Modern Art Museum along with the Mint Museum. It was a scorching day and we were looking for something cool to do and this worked out perfectly. The museums were so nice and cool. I didn't get any pictures inside, but there was so much to see. After we finished up at the museums and walked around uptown for a bit, we stopped in a new-to-us adorable French restaurant. We weren't very hungry from all the heat, so a charcuterie board and Aperol spritz was the perfect summer dinner. I love the energy of being in a city. It really energizes me. What about you? Are you more of a city mouse or a country mouse? I'd say I'm more of a city mouse for sure. We live in a suburb of Charlotte. We are about a forty-minute drive from uptown Charlotte. It was a great way to spend a hot, summer afternoon!
It's nice to get some relief from the heat when it's so hot. Glad you found something interesting to entertain you and keep you out of the heat of the day. The food looks delicious. I think I'm more of a country mouse than a city mouse, though I do like the best of both worlds if I'm being honest.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a perfect day. I love going to museums! Boston has so many nice ones and one of my favorite things to do is spend an afternoon wandering around in one. It's so fun. I'd definitely consider myself more of a country mouse. I guess that's why going into the city feels like such a treat. I agree with Jo, I like the best of both worlds :) And your charcuterie board looks delicious too!
ReplyDeleteHow nice that you had such an enjoyable day out visiting the museums and then a light dinner at the end. I'm a country mouse from start to finish. I grew up on a dairy farm and my husband also grew up on a farm. We've lived in several different locations in our beautiful state of WV, but they have all been rather rural. Our children were raised in rural areas but our daughter spent 10 years living in Mexico City as a missionary wife. When they came back stateside, she announced that she was a city girl through and through. Our son doesn't live in a rural area but he does live in a small town in Maine, much the size of the town he grew up in. I'm glad you had a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteAlso at one time, our son lived in Huntersville, NC working as a general manager for the first free standing Chick-fil-A in that area. On one of our visits with him, he took us to uptown Charlotte. It's a beautiful city.
So sorry that it was so very hot, however, you did capture some beautiful outdoor photos. The charcuterie looks very tasty. Was wondering what type of fruit was on there. At first glance, I thought it was roasted figs, but not really sure. I am most definitely a country mouse. I do love going to the cities, but with all of the traffic, I can only handle just a few hours. Glad you enjoyed your day.
ReplyDeleteHi. It was a fig jam and it was really good!
DeleteA fun day in the city for you. The museums sound interesting. And the French restaurant sounds delicious. The spritz looks refreshing on a hot summer day. I have lived in the suburbs all my life, but I've always loved the mountains, which is where I live now. And I do enjoy spending a day in the city now and then. You're right, it is energizing.
ReplyDeleteHave a pleasant week.

Country mouse all the way here! Being in the city makes me nervous! But, I am glad you all had a wonderful time! Love the spritz!
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to spend an afternoon in downtown Charlotte. My mother's family is all from Charlotte and my parents lived there (after I was grown) until they passed away. I love that city and all the wonderful memories I have there. I loved all your photos!!
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer. Charlotte really is a beautiful city! Hope you get the chance to come visit again.
DeleteIt sounds like you had an exciting afternoon. I am most definitely a country mouse, but I do love spending time in the city. Xx

ReplyDeleteI'm a country mouse through and through. Though back when I lived on the coast, the city was a fun place to go to. Country mouse though for me. I'd never be happy if I had to live in the city for a loooonnnng time.
ReplyDeleteI love living in the suburbs and visiting the city. We are 1.5 hours to NYC and 1/2 hour from Philadelphia. I do find the city exciting and energizing but then love to go home to relax. Your charcuterie board sounded perfect for dinner.
ReplyDeleteI often enjoy a charcuterie board.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see the photographs here.
All the best Jan
