Hi. I wanted to share a few pictures from my birthday last Friday. We spent the afternoon in Blowing Rock plant shopping at my happy place followed by dinner and, of course, chocolate cake back at home. It was a great day filled with my favorite things and favorite people! I received cards and gifts, phone calls, and text messages from friends and family which made it extra special!
And can you believe how gorgeous my frilly peonies are? They have to be the most gorgeous peonies I've ever had. Just stunning, really. They started out a really dark pink, then faded to an almost coral-fushia color, followed by a very pale pink. Maybe I'll receive another bunch for Mother's Day this weekend! Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there. I know this one will be much different for me without having my mom here to celebrate, but Charlotte is excited to celebrate me, which makes me very happy.
Hope you have a great weekend! It's supposed to be sunny and warm and I'm so ready for it after too many days of rain.

DeleteGlad you had such a lovely birthday. Your peonies are beautiful. I remember my mum having them in her garden when I was young, and I added a plant to my own garden for the first time last year. The firsts without your mum can be difficult, I hope you still manage to have a lovely day with Charlotte.

I will be thinking of you on Mother's Day. I remember the first Mother's Day I had after my mom went to be with the Lord. Just this week, I have thought of so many things she taught me through life and treasure each one. Sending hugs.

I don't think I have ever thought to decorate with real flowers. Not sure I would know which ones you can put on a cake?!:) But it sure is pretty. ReplyDeleteJennifer, thank you for the kind comment and birthday wishes!! I love to decorate cakes with real flowers. I know pansies and violas are safe and I think they are edible, as well - roses are beautiful on a cake too as long as they have been sprayed with any chemicals.
