Happy Autumn and What I've Been Cooking

Happy Autumn! I hope you are enjoying this new season and I hope the weather feels cooler than it does here. I think it's in the mid 80's today. We've had a few somewhat cooler days here and there and I have taken advantage of each one by being in the kitchen. There are so many cozy meals I love to cook, but not in hot weather. I have entered my season for cooking. It's my favorite time of year to be in the kitchen, really from now through the holidays.

So, in order from above I'll list what I've made, but won't include the recipes. Please leave a comment if there's a particular recipe you would like and I'll be sure to get it over to you.

First up: Homemade Meatballs in Marinara Sauce - a favorite around here, next is a Honey Cake which was delicious, Another favorite is Baked Ziti with Ricotta, Apple Crisp which might just be the best apple crisp I've ever made, Skillet Ravioli with Spinach - very easy and delicious, and last, Zucchini Pesto Lasagna which was time-consuming to make, but very worth it in the end.

So, what have you been cooking/baking lately? I'd love to hear about it.

  1. Hello, my lovely friend! Your fall cooking and baking look delicious!!!! If I could choose one recipe to inquire about, it would be the apple crisp. Love apple crisp! I have not been cooking at all, as we are currently in the process of moving to the new house. I miss it! I hope homeschool is going well. I am sure it is! Flynn is actually really liking 8th grade. I am too! Which is quite surprising, since I thought I would max out around 2nd! Have a cozy evening!

  2. Hi Julia, thank you so much for stopping by my blog and leaving a lovely comment :) Your cooking and baking look so delicious my mouth is watering! I love Italian food too. Tonight we are having a simple meal of homemade hamburgers on toasted buns with lettuce and tomatoes. We don't buy many fresh tomatoes here at the moment as they cost around $2.40 each, so it is a real treat, imagine that lol! Enjoy the rest of your day. Hugs Rose x

    1. Hi Rose. We are big fans of Italian food in our house! We also love homemade burgers, too. So glad you were able to snatch a good tomato. It really does make the burger, doesn't it? Take care.

  3. The weather is much cooler here now that autumn has arrived and there's visible signs of the change in seasons all around us. Your time in the kitchen has been very productive and all those lovely dishes are making my mouth water. It will be time to get the slow cooker out again soon, I do love stews and casseroles in the cooler months, comfort food at its best.

  5. You look like you have been having fun in the kitchen. As we are moving into autumn I am starting to make many more warming meals like curry and casseroles. I think we may have seen the last of the very hot weather over here and the temperatures have fallen considerably over the last week or two.

  6. That is so of the yummiest looking food that I have seen in a long time. I have never seen (or met) a pasta dish that did not make me incredibly hungry....but the apple crisp sounds wonderful! Would you share that recipe??

  7. When I saw the cake, my immediate thought was that this is the dessert I need to have. The temperature feels like it might be from a genuine winter season here. It's just not doing it for me at all.
